The body and the mind are inextricably connected, each time we have a thought we set off a cascade of cellular reactions in our nervous system which influence all the molecules in our body. Our cells are constantly observing our thoughts and, therefore, being changed by them...

...Tune in to your body, understand your mind, and the cause and effects between them. "Each emotion has a chemical correlation within the body" - Dr. Gabor Mate

Value yourself enough to take charge of your choices and provide nourishment for your body, reset your mind, and fulfill your soul.

About OHM Mind Body

Olivia Henrietta Marquis

Yoga Alliance & Pre-Natal Yoga Instructor, Mindfulness & Meditation Instructor

Through life’s journey so far, I have come to realise a connection to those around me, in bringing support, encouragement and techniques to help us take control of both our mind and body - and empower us to connect the two.

"Health is a state of complete harmony of the body, mind and spirit. When one is free from physical disabilities and mental distractions, the gates of the soul open." B.K.S. Iyengar

Starting off with a physical connection and focus, taking my body to the physical limits, however leaving my mind to fend for itself, I came to learn that a balance was required, as the mental strength and dedication required to push my body to the limits was achieved through this process, however the recuperation and mental downtime was not. When my body started to show the physical signs of stress, through severe allergic reaction symptoms, I started to listen and take note of my own internal environment and to understand the value of homeostasis, or balance, for both the body and the mind.

After 10 years travelling the world, living and working with different cultures, I have grown to realise where our focus is amiss for our ideas of a "successful" life. Rather than running ourselves ragged to achieve status in our careers, or society, and leave our minds on the wayside without a second thought for our own personal wellbeing, or to work ourselves to the point of zero-productivity and to the detriment of our health. It's about acknowledging our own inner needs and identifying with them on a daily basis. Even if we take just 10 minutes each day to stop, be present in the moment and get to know our authentic self, removing the busyness from our minds for those minutes and focus on listening to our own inner voice.

Each of my focuses here within OHM Mind Body are towards empowering each of us to take control of our own lives and discover the true beauty of life itself, to create an inner journey towards peace and contentment each and every day.

Yoga: Another way to find inner peace and balance in life.

Completing my Yoga Teaching Certification in Rishikesh, India, opened my eyes and mind to the depths of Yoga, from their original, spiritual source. Primarily studying Ashtanga Vinyasa, Hatha and the Eight Limbs of Yoga, my teaching style has developed from a disciplined, structured root, evolving into a blend for each unique class I teach, tailoring each class to suit those present.

Group sessions, half day/full day workshops and weekend courses are available. As well as individual one-on-one sessions and tailored corporate courses.

• Pranayama (Breathing exercises)

• Asanas (Physical postures)

• Relaxation (Guided Savasana)

• Meditation (Yoga Nidra)

"Once upon a time we had a pretty much time-served attitude to health, fitness and
well-being being which, we accomplished by regular visits to the gym and thrashing out some circuit training ...Then we were introduced to Olivia who ultimately went on to teach us that an alternative to our approach could be found through Yoga. Olivia taught us that Yoga is so much more than the perceived tree pose with an “Ommm” or two thrown in for good measure. Yoga is about core strength and facilitates both physical and mental strength within...
3 years in, it has honestly had a major impact on who we are, how we think & how we cope... thank you, Olivia!
Yoga, Classes, Workshops & Courses
"As I embark on the seemingly impossible task of trying to find a new yoga teacher after a long-distance house move, I realise how lucky I’ve been in finding such an inspiring, knowledgeable and compassionate teacher as Liv. She teaches in a way that makes yoga fun and accessible for everyone – there’s no pressure to push yourself too far. When I joined Liv’s classes I knew nothing about yoga, but now I have an understanding of the poses and salutations, and generally the way my own body moves! She gently pushed me to develop, knowing when I’ve been capable of a new pose (sometimes before I realized myself!). The day retreats are really well organised and are full of engaging and thought-provoking content. You leave several hours later feeling calmer and refreshed."

"I had done a few yoga classes before pregnancy yoga so was aware of the basics but would definitely still class myself as a beginner. When I found out I was pregnant I knew pregnancy yoga was something I wanted to make time for to help myself and the baby have some relaxation time and connect. Olivia’s classes definitely ticked all the boxes. I was made completely welcome as soon as I arrived. She wanted to know all about me and the pregnancy, so she could tailor the classes to each mum and how far along in the pregnancy they were. Through each class I learnt how the breathing used in yoga can be transferred across to help in labour. The relaxation techniques went hand in hand with the antenatal class we did and helped me throughout labour. Olivia was on hand at any point if I had any questions to ask when we weren’t in class and was always happy to help if I was doing my own yoga at home. I’m in the first trimester of my second pregnancy now and can’t wait to attend again!"
